Guidelines For Poster Abstracts
FICCI along with Quality Council of India welcome abstracts
for poster presentations during FICCI HEAL 2010 showcasing
your hospital/department's programmes and activities
relating to our theme:
"Ensuring Quality: Global Standards with Local
Touch ".
General Guidelines for submission of abstracts
1. An individual may submit a maximum of two abstracts.
2. We will acknowledge receipt of all abstracts submitted
and provide a registration number for reference. If
this is not advised to you within 3 working days please
email: healthservices@ficci.com
3. Presenting author of selected abstract must register
for the Conference.
4. Details and guidelines (poster size, font size etc)
for the final preparation of accepted abstracts will
be included with the notification of acceptance.
5. The selection of abstracts (maximum 20 in number)
will be done by the FICCI HEAL Organizing Committee,
whose decisions are final.
6. 1st, 2nd and 3rd best posters will be announced
at the Concluding Session of FICCI HEAL on 7th Sept
2010.
Instructions for preparation of
abstracts
1. Abstract must be submitted in English, typewritten
in font size 11 point Arial (preferred)
2. TITLE must be brief, concise and in CAPITALS
3. MAIN AUTHOR - Type in your name and final degree
as you want it to appear in the programme
4. CO-AUTHORS - Type names and degrees as per instructions
above.
5. Text of the abstract must not exceed 250 words and
be typed single-spaced, with only the left margin justified.
Graphs, tables and illustrations cannot be included
in the abstract.
6. The abstract should contain the following :
- A statement of the objectives of the study
- A description of the methods used
- A summary of the results obtained
- A statement of the conclusions reached

8. Last date of submission : 10th August 2010
9. Announcement of selected abstracts: 16 th August
2010
Poster Presentation Guidelines- Display
Only
i. Poster Size- Prepare your poster to be no more than
a maximum 2 ½ ft X 5ft
ii. Display Only- Posters will be located in the 3rd
Floor lobby area of FICCI Federation House. Participants
will be able to view posters in this area over the days
of the Conference. Your poster will be on display for
the Conference period.
iii. Poster Installation - Your poster is to be in
position by no later than 09:00 hrs on Monday 6th September
2010. Display boards will be available from 16:00 hrs
to 17:00 hrs on Sunday 5th September and from 07:30
hrs to 09:00 hrs on Monday 7th September.
iv. Poster Viewing - The display only posters will
not have official presentation sessions but will be
on display for Conference participants to view from
Monday 6th September to Tuesday 7th September. There
will also be an official poster viewing session in the
afternoon of Tuesday 7th September 2010 from 14:00 hrs
to 19:00 hrs. We ask that you be at your poster at that
time.
v. Poster Removal- Please leave your poster in place
until 17:00 hrs on Tuesday, 7th September. All posters
must be removed by 18:00 hrs on Tuesday 7th September.
If they are not removed by this time, Conference Staff
will take them down and no responsibility can be taken
for their safe return.
vi. GENERAL GUIDELINES
Although the content of your poster is the most important
factor for its success, its visual display can significantly
enhance or detract from the impact of your study/project.
One of the most important considerations in creating
an effective poster is the central theme. For maximum
visual impact, it is best if your poster is direct,
focused and concise.
vii. PREPARING YOUR POSTER
- Your poster will be on display throughout the Conference.
Title: Please ensure that you include the title of
your poster presentation at the top of your poster.
The characters in the title banner should be at least
2.5 cm (1 inch) high. Your board will have a poster
number.
- Your poster will be on display throughout the Conference.
Content: Your poster needs to tell a story by itself.
It must cover the work outlined in the abstract which
was selected for the London program. It must not contain
any material which would be seen as marketing a commercial
product or program.
- Your poster will be on display throughout the Conference.
Design: Use high quality photos, graphs, tables and
charts wherever possible. Use bullet or point form text.
Lettering should be at minimum one centimeter high to
ensure good visibility.
Handouts: You can bring handouts with you. These should
be clear and concise and Include no commercial or advertising
material. You are responsible for providing a pouch
or envelope to hold the handouts. Do not forget to label
the envelope with your name and contact information.
Handouts cannot be placed on the floor. Provide an adequate
number of your handouts as the conference cannot provide
photocopying.
viii. Selection of Posters
- Each presenter will be invited to briefly outline
their poster and answer questions for 10 minutes.
- A 3- member committee will assess the poster from
2:00 p.m -5:00 p.m on 7th Sep 2010
- With the permission of authors, FICCI would publish
as many abstracts and presentations onto its website.
